Update on the Update

After spending most of today on the phone to the greater and the good of every Amateur football league in South East Scotland trying to chase us a place in the league I was left exhausted and disappointed. Firstly exhausted at the, not one, not two, not three, but six people I was passed to en route to the Football Development Officer for East Lothian. Also firstly disappointed, disappointed at the way in which the guy who, judging by his title, is paid to develop football in East Lothian handled my call. Essentially instead of helping me himself, this guy gave me the number for some random guy from Tranent who ran a pub team. This random guy proved useful in giving me the number for a secretary of a local league. Unfortunately she didn’t answer at all but its a contact that will prove useful.

However today did prove that there are plenty leagues that will take us on in Summer, but the churches league will not as (much to the organisers offense) we are not affiliated with a church, despite Staggs being an absolute cathedral to Real Ales. On top of this I also managed to root out a few teams who are up for taking on the might of the Volleys in the future. Unfortunately among their number was The Meadows Bar, who due to a game next Saturday will be sadly unavailable for a game next Sunday, which is absolutely fair. There has also been promising moves towards getting Intra Mural side Arthur’s Feet as opposition for next sunday’s match, which hopefully will come off.

Another big positive is the severe lackage of league positions has prompted myself and Richie from Teuchters to pull out the collective finger and begin to organise the summer league we have been talking about since September, with Richie’s know-how and my drive, it’s bound to come off.

On top of this, after discovering that I actually do have some cash at my disposal it looks like I will be ordering a sample strip very soon, pending communication with Jaz from soccerdirectfc.co.uk.

So far everything is looking good for our fixture on Sunday as it hasn’t been called off yet and nobody has pulled out either.

Stay tuned.
