Volunteer Arms Football Club

Finally. After weeks of footballing disappointment ranging from a truly dire lack of fixtures, a truly mediocre string of performances from an Edinburgh team beginning with H, and disastrous cancellations I have managed to book us a good solid fixture etched into stone. However this was not without problems. 

Firstly as you know the Westerhailes squad diced with death with an eleventh hour fixture cancellation to watch a fairly drab encounter between Man Utd and Arsenal on tv. Fair play if they actually had tickets to sit next to Fergie or were on the squad list for either team, but the stone cold reality is they were collectively screaming at a picture of Manuel Almunia being fantastic.

But anyway after much wrangling over the date it has been set in stone, Monday the 11th of May at Meadowmill with a 7pm kick off. This unfortunate location has come about due to Fisherrow being totally booked up, presumably due to a backlog of various league fixtures. But however it’s not a massive problem and we’ll try and organise as many cars as we can to take us there. Westerhailes have insisted on supplying the ref, but I’ve been warned by Amos of the Witchery that in a 6-2 Westerhailes pounding of them that the supplied ref was fairly questionable, its fairly obvious how to deal with this and like a professional manager/captain/secretary/president I will fully respect the official in question.
