Some major developments in the footballing world in the past couple of days. Firstly the pressing on of establishing the much lauded summer league. After only managing to find 4 teams ready to aprticipate its a little poor but still proves a vital chance for VAFC to scoop some early silverware. The confirmed teams are us, Teuchters FC, Dunbar FC, and also Sykes FC, a building works team based in Sighthill. As i said before everyone plays each other twice on a fortnightly basis, home and away. The fixture list is not completed as of yet, but our first fixture is against Sykes FC at Peffermill on the 4th of June, 7pm Kick off. Unfortunately we couldn’t get Fisherrow as in their infinite wisdom and continuous support for community football the council have chosen as usual to close both pitches over summer. However this shouldn’t prove too much of a deterrent as VAFC march their way to league glory.
Myself and Richie have been searching for a name for the league, with his best suggestion being the MILF league(MIdLothian Football League), a good one of mines was the BEER League (Best of Edinburgh and East Region League). However due to revelations from my trip down to Wembley to follow the Clarets I have decided that it shall be known as the Owen Coyle Super League until anybody suggests otherwise.
Doo doo doo do Owen Coyle.
Keep the faith
