Reaction from Match vs Westerhailes Baptist Church FC 11/6/2009

Not really much requirement for a match report from last night. A simple reactionary statement will do the job. First half, quality bit of resurgence with a delightful hat trick from Val and an awesome lob from the Puma King Diego, 4-4 at half time. The second half was a totally different story. Complete and utter defensive collapse. Final score 11-4 to Westerhailes. However this does not cover all the shenanigans of the half. Some absolutely disgusting ignorant taunts were directed towards Diego Porras during this half. One particular quote being “If you can’t speak english don’t play the fucking game”. Brief response as follows.

Widely percieved best teams in the world – Brazil, Argentina, France, Italy

Champions League Winners 2008/2009 – Barcelona

Uefa Cup Winners 2008/2009 – Shakthar Donetsk

Double Ballon D’or Winners – Ferenc Puskas, Alfredo Di Stefano

All non english speaking (generally when referring to clubs or national sides).

Award for bringing ignorant degrading comments into community football – Westerhailes Baptist Church FC

Disgrace.

  • to jonny: i appreciate you looking for a focus on the football as there is usually a good standard in our matches, i’m keen to walk on from this encounter but for the kind of chat that was heard towards diego clubs and players would be fined a ton of cash

  • Yeah agree that the one particular comment has no place on a football field. I know Kev very well though and although his mouth was misguided there was no serious intent, but i cant defend how it sounds. I think your big lad was thowing a few elbows around too, which is not great!
It was basically a derby game: goals, incidents, misguided tackles, and handbags. Ref was quite leniant which didn’t help. And your keeper had a bit of a mare(never start a sentence with and).

    que sera sera.

  • reckon thats a pretty fair comment all told

  • Kevin Kelly Must Go!! lol

Anyway onto the football, Hailes took a 3-1 lead before defensive errors allowed Arms a way back into the game and somehow it was 4-4 at half time. After Alans inspirational team talk at half time Hailes focused on knocking the ball about in midfield which worked well and resulted in 7, yes SEVEN, second half goals. Also, the defence were terrific in the second half and I cant remember Arms having a shot on goal. Our performance was beginning to frustate the Arms players and resulted in a horrible challenge on Scott which was totally uncalled for and should have resulted in a straight red.

Overall, a very easy win for the Hailes.

Perhaps if VAFC spent as much time reflecting on the football instead of the “shenanigans” they may start to improve as a team.
